ONLINE COURSE: Shamanic Sound Healing
Service Description
Five online classes beginning November 6 and ending December 11, 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm GMT-5 time zone. A 7th-generation indigenous yachak (shaman) will teach and share his own indigenous people's pre-Incan "sound healing" practices that he and his ancestors have been using in their ceremonies for centuries. Tayta Willak will explain the fundamental principles of indigenous wellness and healing as they are understood and practiced here in the Andes. Unlike Western medicine, good health means maintaining a state of balance and harmony with Nature in our daily life so that we do not "distance ourselves from Pachamama," ("become sick" as we say in English). Using ancient, modern, and musical instruments from nature, the voice and the body, this shaman draws on the spiritual energy of the condor, mountains, Pachamama, the four elements of nature, sun, and moon to help his own indigenous community members maintain good physical, emotional and mental health by staying "in tune" with Nature. He teaches sound healing practitioners how to balance themselves before each sound healing session by connecting with the healing spiritual power of the four natural elements. He shares how he conducts spontaneous and intutitive sound healing sessions that vary according to the needs of the the client. Here are a few examples. In Andean shamanism, singing bowls produce pleasant and relaxing sounds, but are not believed to provide lasting healing. Large hand drums are believed to be much more effective than small drums in healing imbalances of the lower uku pacha region of the body and spirit. Whistling and high-pitched flutes can move energy in the hanak pacha region to dislodge troubling thoughts. These "wind" sounds also can help regulate shallow or labored breathing related to emotional imbalances. Humming and singing soothes the heart in the kay pacha region. Stress and resistance may be eased through instruments evoking the sounds and spiritual energy of water. Tayta Willak is happy to share all these principles, tools, and practices for the first time in a five-session course in the English language. There are a total of five online classes beginning Wednesday November 6 and ending Wednesday December 11. We will not meet on November 27, the day before Thanksgiving. All online classes in this course are scheduled for 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the Ecuador times zone (GMT-5).
